Mushroom Hunt with John Crabtree

Cole Harbour Lawrencetown Beach Coastal Heritage Park

Harvest Moon Walk TCT - Salt Marsh Trail Walk

Join the Dartmouth Volksmarch Club for a 10 km or 5 km guided walk, suitable for all ages.  The walks are rated 2B and will take place on well-groomed trails with very little more difficult terrain and some moderate hills.  Dress for weather conditions and wear sturdy walking shoes or boots.  Bring a flashlight, water and a snack.  Meet at the 806 Bissett Road parking lot, 3 km from Cole Harbour Road.  Please note that a $1 fee will be collected prior to the walk.  Contact Ruth at (902) 404-8748 or Lily (902) 466-4421.


The Islands Provincial Park
6th Annual Harvest Fair

Join the Harvest Fair Committee for their 6th Annual Harvest Fair.  The fun starts Friday evening with a bonfire and continues Saturday afternoon with FREE outdoor events for all ages to enjoy.  Activities include T-shirt decorating, doughnut eating, obstacle course, scarecrow decorating, cake/cupcake walks, hotdog roasting and much more.  Saturday evening there will be a movie night for the children and stargazing for everyone.  Join our FaceBook page "Giant Pumpkin Festival and Harvest Fair" for all the latest information and updates. Halloween Weekend

Come out and celebrate closing weekend.  Pumpkin carving and campsite decoration contests will be judged at 6 PM.  Don't forget to dress up and bring lots of treats for the little Trick or Treaters!  Bring Halloween decorations, pumpkins. Moonlight Tour

Have you ever heard wolves howl at night?  Join us in an easy, guided moonlight walk of the Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park.  Get a nocturnal view of the park and its inhabitants.  The fee is $6 per person.  Cash only.  This event is recommended for ages 6 and up.  Dress for weather conditions.  Please bring water, insect repellent, wear good walking shoes and bring flashlights.   Pre-registration is required.  You must receive  confirmation from the park to attend. Waverley - Salmon River Long Lake Wilderness Area

Crowbar Lake Wilderness Trail Hike

Join the Chebucto Hiking Club for a moderate to difficult 14 km hike suitable for all ages.  This hike is rated 4D - a good deal of significant hill climbing and a significant part of the walk takes place on very difficult terrain.  This trail system is managed by the Porters Lake-Myra Road Wilderness Area Association.  We will meet at the Crowbar Lake Trail parking lot at 1800 Myra Road, Porters Lake.  This hike takes approximately 5 -6 hours to complete, so dress for weather conditions and wear hiking boots.  Bring water, lunch and snacks.  Contact Don at (902) 445-5141, email or visit


McNabs and Lawlor Islands Provincial Park

McNabs Island Fall Foliage Tours

Ellenwood Lake Provincial Park

Pumpkin Carving

This will be the 4th annual pumpkin carving.  Come out and carve your pumpkin for Halloween.  Pumpkins will be supplied.  The carving will be done outside to enjoy the natural environment.  Participants must walk in from main gate. Uisge Bàn Provincial Park

Uisge Bàn Falls Walk

Join the Cape Breton Island Hoppers Volkssport Club for a 5 and 10 km guided group walk on the trails of Uisge Bàn Falls Provincial Park.  This is the annual club walk to the falls viewing fall colours - all are welcome.  Participants are asked to pre-register at the start point at 1:30 PM before walk begins.  Meet at the parking/picnic area off Branch Road, Baddeck Forks.  Dress for weather conditions and wear hiking boots or shoes, carry water and light snack.
